After unveiling their new Sony Smartband during this years CES 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas during January, Sony has this week announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) exhibition in Barcelona that their new Sony Smartband will be available to purchase from stores worldwide from next month.
The Sony Smartband has been designed to track your movement and is also be compatible with the new Sony Core tracker that will also be available during March 2014. When combined, the Core and SmartBand measure sleep patterns, offer vibrate alerts and more.
The Sony SmartBand has been designed to provide users with notifications of incoming calls and messages and can alert you if your smartphone is left behind or moves more than a certain distance from the Smartband. Sony explains:
“Sony’s innovative new Lifelog application binds the SmartWear Experience together, enabling you to discover your past, enjoy your present and helping inspire your future. Together with SmartBand, the Android app enables you to effortlessly capture life and entertainment – places visited, music listened to, games played, books read – and presents it a beautifully visual interface.”
The Sony Smartband will be available in a range of colours and its strap is finished with a subtle texture and a circular metal clasp. Whilst wearing the Sony Smartband users can also use it to control music playback by skipping, pausing or playing tracks that are stored on the connected Android smartphone.
