Sony unveiled a number of new products at IFA 2014 in Berlin, including the new Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, but it seems the company is working on a new 12-inch tablet.
According to a new report from Taiwanese publication Digitimes, Sony is working on a 12-inch tablet which will see the light of the day in the first quarter of 2015. They further said it will come with high-end specifications, and a stylus as well.
Sony Mobile Communications will launch a 12-inch tablet in the first quarter of 2015. Several other vendors are also developing large-size tablets for launch in the first or second quarters, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.
The sources pointed out that Sony’s 12-inch tablet will feature high-end specifications and come with a stylus, targeting mainly markets that have demand for graphics-related applications.
As always, the news comes from “Taiwan-based supply chain makers” so we would suggest a proverbial amount of salt. Digitimes doesn’t have a very decent track record when it comes to rumors, but it could be correct since many OEMs are rumored to launch a bigger 12-inch tablets. Apple is said to be working on a 12.9-inch iPad Pro, while Samsung has already entered the big tablet market with its Galaxy Note Pro.
Anyway, there’s no official confirmation at the moment, but we’ll update you as soon as we hear anything else.
