The Sony NEX-VG900E is equipped with a 24.3 megapixel Exmor full-frame CMOS sensor, and is fully compatible with full-frame A-mount and E-mount lenses, by using the supplied adapter.
The sensor fitted to the Sony NEX-VG900E allows it to capture full-frame 24.0 effective megapixel still photos, will quality compatible to that of a DSLR camera, says Sony, and they can be shot in RAW format.
“As well as permitting beautiful ‘bokeh’ (defocus) effects with the growing range of α lenses, its high sensitivity assures extremely clear, low-noise images. The large sensor size assures effortless reproduction of the finest tonal gradations, helping the most demanding cinematographer fully realise their creative vision.”
Other features include a 25p/24p progressive mode, with colour controls provided by Cinema Tone Gamma and Cinema Tone Colour technology. The NEX-VG900E has also been designed to automatically switch its mode from full-frame to APS-C when it detects an E-mount or A-mount DT lens is attached.
