We have featured a number of rugged mobile phones from smartphone maker Sonim, and now the company is taking to crowd funding to launch what it called the world’s most rugged Android smartphone, Sonim XP7.
The Sonim XP7 is an LTE Android smartphone that will be sold unlocked, and the handset will retail for $579, the creators of the device are funding the project via Indiegogo.
The XP7 will come with a 4 in ch display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, the handset will feature a quad core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, plus 1GB of RAM, and it will also come with a 4800 mAh battery.
Other specifications on the Sonim Xp7 will include a front facing 1 megapixel camera and an 8 megapixel rear camera, the device will also come with 16GB of built in storage.
Whilst the hardware specifications on the Sonim XP7 are not all that impressive, what the device can withstand is, the handset can be submerged in salt water or fresh water up to a depth of 6.5 feet.
The device is also shock and impact resistant above military specifications according to the manufacturer, and it can withstand extreme hot and cold temperatures and is also resistant to dust, mud and sand.
