The Nokia Lumia launched in the US last weekend, and now it looks like we have a launch date for the SIM free version here in the UK. According to the guys over at Clove, they will be offering the SIM free Lumia 900 in the UK from the 16th of May.
The SIM free Nokia Lumia 900 will be available for £460.80 including taxes, and the device has already gone up for pre-order at a number of retailers in both SIM free and monthly contract options.
Key Features of the Nokia Lumia 900
As a reminder, the Nokia Lumia 900 features a 4.3 inch AMOLED ClearBlack multi-touch touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. This display technology is designed to provide deeper blacks and better visibility in direct sunlight, making it ideal for outdoor use. The Lumia 900 comes with Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and is powered by a single-core 1.4GHz processor, which ensures smooth performance for everyday tasks and applications.
The device features two cameras. Up front, there is a 1-megapixel camera with an f2.4 lens for video chat, which is perfect for making video calls via apps like Skype. On the back, there is an 8-megapixel camera with an f2.2 Carl Zeiss lens for video and photos. This rear camera is capable of capturing HD video in 720p, making it suitable for recording high-quality videos and taking sharp, detailed photos.
Additional Features and Specifications
The Nokia Lumia 900 also includes a range of additional features that enhance its functionality and user experience. It comes with 16GB of internal storage, providing ample space for apps, photos, videos, and music. Unfortunately, there is no microSD card slot for expandable storage, so users will need to rely on cloud storage solutions like OneDrive for additional space.
Connectivity options on the Lumia 900 include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, and GPS, ensuring that users can stay connected and navigate with ease. The device also supports 4G LTE, offering faster internet speeds for browsing, streaming, and downloading content.
The Lumia 900 is equipped with a 1830mAh battery, which provides up to 7 hours of talk time and up to 300 hours of standby time. This should be sufficient for most users to get through a full day of moderate usage without needing to recharge.
In terms of design, the Lumia 900 features a sleek and modern look with a polycarbonate unibody construction. This not only gives the device a premium feel but also makes it more durable and resistant to scratches and minor impacts. The phone is available in several color options, including black, white, cyan, and magenta, allowing users to choose a style that suits their personal preferences.
The Windows Phone 7.5 Mango operating system on the Lumia 900 offers a unique and user-friendly interface with Live Tiles that provide real-time updates on the home screen. This OS also includes a range of built-in apps and services, such as Microsoft Office, Xbox Live, and Bing, making it a versatile and productive device for both work and play.
Overall, the Nokia Lumia 900 is a well-rounded smartphone that offers a good balance of performance, features, and design. Its combination of a high-quality display, capable cameras, and robust build quality make it an attractive option for users looking for a reliable and stylish device.
