We have been hearing rumors over the last few week that Apple intend to officially announce the new iPhone 5 next month, with a date of the 12th of September tipped for the official announcement.
Now according to a recent report from Reuters, Sharp has said that they will start shipping displays for the next iPhone this month, the news came from Sharp’s president Takashi Okuda at a recent press event.
“Shipments will start in August,” Sharp’s new president, Takashi Okuda, said at a press briefing in Tokyo on Thursday after the company released its latest quarterly earnings.
If this is correct then it would mean that the 12th of September date for the announcement of the iPhone 5 seems about right, and the handset could start shipping some time in September.
