A new concept bike currently under development called the SandwichBike, provides cyclists with a unique way to build and customise their ride.
The SandwichBike has been created by Basten Leijh who had to rethink every aspect of the classic velocipede, to create a kit that can be shipped world wide and constructed with ease. Watch the video after the jump to learn more about the SandwichBike project and see it in action.
The SandwichBike is constructed as a ‘sandwich’ of two weather coated frames of layered plywood, which are bonded together by ‘smart cylinders’, to create a ‘rock-solid piece of technology’. say its creator.
“The Sandwichbike fits in a small, flat package, so we can send it to you by post. The fun will begin the moment the postman rings your doorbell. Everything you need is in the box including the tools, so you can start assembling right away. In total, there are less than 50 parts. If you can make a sandwich, you can surely build a Sandwichbike.”
Unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always.
