We have been hearing rumors about the new Samsung Galaxy S8 Active for a while and now it looks like we have a photo of the handset.
The picture below apparently shows the new Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, the handset will be a rugged version of the Galaxy S8 and it will be exclusive to AT&T in the US.
The handset is expected to come with many of the specifications of the Galaxy S8, although it is designed to be more rugged than the standard device.
Design and Durability
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is built to withstand harsher conditions compared to its sleek counterpart, the Galaxy S8. The rugged design includes a tougher exterior, likely featuring a reinforced frame and a shatter-resistant screen. This makes it an ideal choice for users who need a durable phone for outdoor activities or work in demanding environments. The device is expected to meet military-grade standards for durability, including resistance to dust, water, and extreme temperatures. This ruggedness does not come at the expense of aesthetics, as the S8 Active maintains a sleek and modern look.
Specifications and Features
The Galaxy S8 Active recently received WiFi certification which suggests that it is getting close to release and we could possibly see the handset some time this month or next month. The device is anticipated to share many of the high-end specifications of the Galaxy S8. This includes a powerful Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD card. The display is expected to be a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED screen, offering vibrant colors and deep blacks, although it may be flat rather than curved to enhance durability.
In terms of camera capabilities, the S8 Active is likely to feature the same 12-megapixel rear camera with Dual Pixel technology and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, ensuring high-quality photos and videos. The device will also come with a large battery, possibly around 4,000mAh, to provide extended usage time, which is crucial for users who are often on the go and may not have frequent access to charging facilities.
Software and Additional Features
The Galaxy S8 Active will run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, with Samsung’s custom user interface on top. This includes features like Bixby, Samsung’s AI assistant, which offers voice control, visual search, and contextual information. The device will also support Samsung Pay, allowing users to make secure payments using their phone.
Another notable feature is the inclusion of a physical Bixby button, which provides quick access to the assistant. The S8 Active is also expected to support wireless charging and fast charging, ensuring that users can quickly recharge their device when needed.
As soon as we get some more information on the new Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, including a full list of specifications for the handset, we will let you guys know.
