Late last month we featured a leaked image that was rumoured to be the new Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini smartphone, which is expected to be launched in four different versions.
Now rumours are circulating that Samsung might be preparing to officially announce the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini later this week.
Expected Variants and Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, aka the GT-I9190, is rumoured to come with a dual-SIM version, an LTE version, a standard version, and an HSPA+ version specifically for China. This variety in models is likely aimed at catering to different market needs and preferences, ensuring that the Galaxy S4 Mini can appeal to a broad audience globally.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is expected to be powered by a dual-core 1.6GHz processor, which should provide ample performance for everyday tasks and moderate multitasking. Additionally, it is anticipated to be equipped with a 4.3″ Super AMOLED display at qHD resolution, sporting a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. This display technology is known for its vibrant colors and deep blacks, making it a popular choice for many smartphone users.
Running Google’s latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, the Galaxy S4 Mini is expected to offer a smooth and responsive user experience. Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean includes several enhancements over its predecessors, such as improved performance, a more polished user interface, and additional features like Google Now and actionable notifications.
Additional Features and Launch Timeline
In terms of additional features, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is likely to include many of the software enhancements found in its larger sibling, the Galaxy S4. These could include features like S Health, which helps users track their fitness and health metrics, and S Translator, which provides real-time translation services. Other potential features might include Smart Stay, which keeps the screen on as long as the user is looking at it, and Air View, which allows users to preview content by hovering their finger over the screen.
The camera capabilities of the Galaxy S4 Mini are also expected to be competitive, with rumours suggesting an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. These specifications should be sufficient for capturing high-quality photos and videos, as well as for video calling.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is expected to launch in June or July, but if and when more information about the Galaxy S4 Mini comes to light we will keep you posted. The mid-year launch timeline suggests that Samsung is aiming to capture the back-to-school market, as well as consumers looking to upgrade their devices during the summer months.
Given Samsung’s track record with the Galaxy series, the S4 Mini is likely to be a popular choice among consumers looking for a compact yet powerful smartphone. Its combination of performance, display quality, and software features should make it a strong contender in the mid-range smartphone market.
