US Cellular has just announced its first LTE smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S Aviator, which is a variant of the Samsung Galaxy S II. The device will be available for $99.99 when you sign up to a new contract with the carrier.
The Samsung Galaxy S Aviator comes with a 4.3 inch WVGA touchscreen display that features a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, and it comes with Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread.
Other specifications on the Samsung Galaxy S Aviator include a 1GHz processor and 1.4GB of built-in storage, plus a microSD card slot that can take up to 32GB cards.
The device also comes with two cameras. Up front, there is a 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat, and on the back, there is an 8 megapixel camera for photos and video. The Samsung Galaxy S Aviator will be available for $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate when you sign up to a new two-year contract with the carrier.
Enhanced Connectivity with LTE
One of the standout features of the Samsung Galaxy S Aviator is its LTE connectivity. LTE, or Long-Term Evolution, is a standard for wireless broadband communication that significantly improves the speed and reliability of internet connections on mobile devices. With LTE, users can experience faster download and upload speeds, making it easier to stream videos, download large files, and enjoy online gaming without lag. This makes the Galaxy S Aviator an excellent choice for users who rely heavily on their smartphones for internet access.
Additional Features and User Experience
The Samsung Galaxy S Aviator also includes several other features designed to enhance the user experience. The device supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, and GPS, providing users with multiple options for connectivity and navigation. The 4.3-inch display, while not the highest resolution available, offers vibrant colors and good visibility, making it suitable for watching videos and browsing the web.
The phone’s 1GHz processor, while modest by today’s standards, was quite capable at the time of its release, ensuring smooth performance for everyday tasks such as browsing, social media, and light gaming. The inclusion of a microSD card slot is a significant advantage, allowing users to expand their storage up to 32GB, which is particularly useful for those who like to store a lot of media files on their devices.
The 8-megapixel rear camera is another highlight, capable of capturing high-quality photos and videos. This makes the Galaxy S Aviator a good option for photography enthusiasts who want a reliable camera on their smartphone. The front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera, while not as impressive, is sufficient for video calls and selfies.
In terms of software, Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread may seem outdated now, but at the time, it offered a user-friendly interface and access to a wide range of apps through the Google Play Store. Users could customize their home screens with widgets and shortcuts, making it easy to access their favorite apps and features.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S Aviator represents a solid choice for users looking for a reliable LTE smartphone with a good balance of features and performance. Its combination of LTE connectivity, expandable storage, and capable cameras make it a versatile device suitable for a wide range of users.
