The Samsung Galaxy Gear Tizen update was released a while back in Europe, and now Samsung has announced that they are rolling out the update to their original smartwatch in the U.S.
When the Samsung Galaxy Gear first launched, the device ran Google’s Android, Samsung launched their Galaxy Gear 2 and Gear Fit devices with Tizen, and then released the update to the original device back in May.
By updating the Galaxy Gear to Tizen OS, users will have access to more apps, about 140 apps worldwide available for Tizen OS – nearly twice what is currently available on the Galaxy Gear. The updated Galaxy Gear will also receive the robust music enhancements found on the Gear 2. Owners will be able to store music on the Galaxy Gear and play back directly from the Gear through Bluetooth headphones, without the need to have a Galaxy phone on hand.
The Samsung Galaxy Gear Tizen update brings a range of new features to the smartwatch, which include updated fitness and health apps, more home screen icons, wallpapers and more.
You can find out more details about the update over at Samsung at the link below, if you are in the U.S., then the Tizen update should be available for your smartwatch through the Samsung Kies software updating tool.
