The Samsung Galaxy Gear, Samsung’s first smartwatch launched with Android, and we heard recently that it would be getting a software update in the form of the Galaxy Gear Tizen update.
Now it would appear that the Samsung Galaxy Gear Tizen update has started rolling out, the update comes with software versions 2.2.0 and it switches the Gear from Android to Tizen.
The Samsung Galaxy Gear Tizen update brings a wide range of new features to Samsung’s first smartwatch, which include may of the features that are available on the new Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo.
The only software features that are not available in the update are ones that use the heard rate sensor from the newer devices, and the update should be available for your Galaxy Gear smartwatch as of now.
The Galaxy Gear Tizen update is available through Samsung’s Kies software updating tool, and you will need to connect your device to your computer to install the update.
