Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has announced that it is currently in the development phase for an all-new aluminum space-frame architecture that will be the underpinnings for all future Rolls models. The new platform will start hitting the streets in early 2018. Rolls has announced that it has now begun the testing process for this new architecture.
New testing mules are being tested in public around the world according to Rolls. The testing will be conducted on roads in different locations around the world. Rolls says the testing will in part ensure that the new platform delivers the trademark “magic-carpet ride” that the brand is known for across a variety of road surfaces and different weather conditions. This assessment is the first step in developing the new platform according to Rolls.
“Since 2003 and the commissioning of the new Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has reset the benchmark for luxury motoring,” comments Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “Now it is time to take the next step in the luxury journey. This is why I am announcing today that on-road testing of our all-new proprietary architecture is beginning. This new architecture of pure luxury represents considerable investment in the future of our great brand.”
