RIM has announced BlackBerry Mobile Fusion, which according to the press release is RIM’s next generation enterprise mobility solution for BlackBerry, Android, and iOS devices.
RIM has said that BlackBerry Mobile Fusion is designed to simplify the management of smartphones which are running Android, iOS, and BlackBerry OS.
“We are pleased to introduce BlackBerry Mobile Fusion – RIM’s next generation enterprise mobility solution – to make it easier for our business and government customers to manage the diversity of devices in their operations today,” said Alan Panezic, Vice President, Enterprise Product Management and Marketing at Research In Motion. “BlackBerry Mobile Fusion brings together our industry-leading BlackBerry Enterprise Server technology for BlackBerry devices with mobile device management capabilities for iOS and Android devices, all managed from one web-based console. It provides the necessary management capabilities to allow IT departments to confidently oversee the use of both company-owned and employee-owned mobile devices within their organisations.”
Key Features of BlackBerry Mobile Fusion
BlackBerry Mobile Fusion offers a comprehensive suite of features designed to streamline the management of mobile devices across various platforms. One of the standout features is its unified web-based console, which allows IT administrators to manage BlackBerry, Android, and iOS devices from a single interface. This eliminates the need for multiple management systems and simplifies the overall process.
Additionally, BlackBerry Mobile Fusion supports advanced security features, such as encryption and remote wipe capabilities, ensuring that sensitive corporate data remains protected even if a device is lost or stolen. The solution also includes application management, allowing IT departments to control which apps can be installed on devices, thereby reducing the risk of malware and other security threats.
Benefits for Enterprises and Government Organizations
The introduction of BlackBerry Mobile Fusion is particularly beneficial for enterprises and government organizations that need to manage a diverse range of mobile devices. With the increasing trend of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies, employees are using a variety of smartphones and tablets for work purposes. BlackBerry Mobile Fusion addresses this challenge by providing a unified solution that supports multiple operating systems.
For example, a government agency might have employees using BlackBerry devices for secure communications, while others prefer Android or iOS devices for their user-friendly interfaces and app ecosystems. BlackBerry Mobile Fusion allows the IT department to manage all these devices seamlessly, ensuring that security policies are consistently applied across the board.
Moreover, the solution’s scalability makes it suitable for organizations of all sizes. Whether managing a small team or a large workforce, BlackBerry Mobile Fusion can be tailored to meet specific needs, offering flexibility and control.
You can find out more information about BlackBerry Mobile Fusion over at RIM, and it will be available to enterprise users from January 2012.
