Fallout 4 fans who have always dreamed of wielding their very own Shishkebab flaming sword from the new open-world survival and adventure game Fallout 4, which is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, can now see that dream come to life. This incredible project, which took a total of 5 days to complete, showcases the dedication and craftsmanship of its creator. The entire build process has been documented in a series of videos, which can be viewed below. The finished result is an impressive real-life version of the Fallout 4 ‘Shishkebab’ flaming sword, capable of making mincemeat of anything that stands in its way.
The Build Process
The build process for the Shishkebab sword was meticulously planned and executed. Caleb Kraft, the Community Editor for Make, spearheaded the project. He was inspired by the unique design of the Shishkebab, which is fashioned out of hammered lawnmower blades, a gas tank from a motorcycle, and other miscellaneous parts. The concept art for the new version of the Shishkebab in Fallout 4 was so compelling that Kraft felt compelled to bring it to life.
The project involved several stages, including sourcing the materials, cutting and shaping the blades, assembling the components, and finally, adding the flaming mechanism. Each step was carefully documented in the videos below, providing a comprehensive guide for anyone interested in replicating the build.
Challenges and Triumphs
Building a real-life version of a video game weapon comes with its own set of challenges. One of the primary difficulties was ensuring that the sword could actually produce flames safely and consistently. This required careful consideration of the fuel source, ignition mechanism, and overall safety of the build. Kraft and his team had to experiment with different configurations to achieve the desired effect without compromising safety.
Another challenge was the aesthetic aspect of the sword. The Shishkebab in Fallout 4 has a very distinct look, and replicating this in real life required a keen eye for detail and a lot of creativity. The team used a combination of welding, painting, and assembly techniques to ensure that the final product was as close to the in-game version as possible.
Despite these challenges, the project was a resounding success. The final product not only looks impressive but also functions as intended, producing flames that can ignite anything it touches. This project is a testament to the skill and dedication of the team and serves as an inspiration for other DIY enthusiasts and Fallout 4 fans.
For more information on the project, head over to the official Make website, where Caleb Kraft takes you through the full process. Kraft explains:
There was one weapon in particular from the Fallout video game series that caught my eye. It was a flaming sword called a shishkebab. Fashioned out of hammered lawnmower blades, a gas tank from a motorcycle, and other miscellaneous parts, this thing will ignite any monster you slash. I thought it would be a really fun build. When I saw the concept art appear online for the new version of the shishkebab in Fallout 4, I knew I had to make it happen.
