Bethesda has announced they will be releasing a Prey game demo which will be available from Thursday 27th April on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Although no mention of a PC demo has been made as yet, we will keep you informed if any updates are provided.
The highly anticipated Prey game will be officially launching early next month on May 5th, 2017. In this game, you take on the role of Morgan Yu, who is sent to explore the moon-orbiting space station Talos I after research into a hostile alien collective takes a wrong turn. The game promises an intense and immersive experience, blending elements of horror, action, and mystery.
Gameplay and Features
Prey is developed by Arkane Studios, the creators of the critically acclaimed Dishonored series. The game offers a unique blend of first-person shooter and role-playing elements. As Morgan Yu, players will have access to a variety of weapons and powers to combat the alien threat known as the Typhon. The space station Talos I is a sprawling, open-world environment that encourages exploration and experimentation.
One of the standout features of Prey is its use of “Neuromods,” which allow players to gain new abilities by altering Morgan’s genetic code. These abilities range from enhanced physical skills to powerful psychic powers, providing a wide range of options for tackling the game’s challenges. The choices you make in upgrading your abilities will significantly impact your playstyle and the strategies you employ.
Story and Setting
The narrative of Prey is deeply intertwined with its setting. Talos I is not just a backdrop but a character in its own right. The space station is a marvel of futuristic design, filled with hidden secrets and dangers. As you explore, you’ll uncover the dark history of Talos I and the experiments that led to the current crisis.
The story delves into themes of identity, memory, and the ethical implications of scientific experimentation. Morgan Yu’s journey is not just about survival but also about uncovering the truth behind the Typhon infestation and Morgan’s own past. The game features multiple endings, influenced by the choices you make throughout the story, adding replayability and depth to the experience.
An alien-infested space station. Badass weapons and powers. And… Yu. Fight your way through the deadly Typhon aliens as Morgan Yu while unraveling the mysteries behind the infestation – and your own identity – in this sci-fi thriller from Arkane Studios. The latest gameplay trailer ratchets up the tension while revealing a little more about the central conflict in Prey.
The trailers released so far have showcased the game’s atmospheric tension and the variety of ways players can approach different situations. Whether you prefer stealth, direct combat, or using the environment to your advantage, Prey offers a flexible and engaging gameplay experience.
In addition to its single-player campaign, Prey also features a variety of side missions and optional objectives that further enrich the game’s world and story. These missions often provide valuable rewards and insights into the game’s lore, making them well worth pursuing.
As we approach the release date, excitement continues to build for what promises to be one of the standout games of 2017. Whether you’re a fan of sci-fi thrillers, first-person shooters, or immersive storytelling, Prey is shaping up to be a must-play title.
