Snap Inc recently launched their new Snapchat Spectacles and now one company has started to make prescription lenses for the spectacles.
Rochester Optical previously made prescription lenses for the Google Glass, Microsoft HoloLends and other devices and now they are offering them for the Snapchat Spectacles.
Snapchat’s Spectacles feature rounded cutouts in each lens corner, which are difficult for some optical labs to accommodate. Rochester Optical invests in the latest optical equipment including 5-axis edging machinery, digital free-form surfacing equipment, and in-house AR coating to offer the most innovative lens products available. Having a Research and Development division and skilled optical craftsmen on staff allows Rochester Optical to solve unique design challenges and offer creative optical solutions.
Patrick Ho, CEO of Rochester Optical comments: “We’ve been working with heads-up displays for a long time, and Spectacles are just a form of smart glasses without the heads-up-display. We already cut similar notches in lenses for Google Glass to accommodate the HUD, so cutting rounded notches in the lens corners to work around the Spectacle cameras is very similar.”
A set of lenses for the Snapchat Spectacles will set you back from $99, you can find out more details at the link below.
