The PPSSPP emulator for PlayStation Portable games has been under development for a number of years but has this week released version 1.0 of its emulation software for Android devices via the Google Play Store.
The Android Playstation emulator is available as a free version that include adverts or as a PPSSPP Gold version that is advert free, which is available for purchase for $5.99. Watch the video below to learn more about this awesome new Android PlayStation emulator application.
The PPSSPP emulator offers support for games for the original PlayStation Portable, not the newer PlayStation Vita and you will need to provide your own ISO/CSO game files for the software to be able to play anything.
PPSSPP supports keyboard control mapping for relatively painless setup of external controllers and tilt functions as well as upscaling for HD screens. Jump over to the Google Play Store for more details. Its creators explain:
“Play PSP games on your Android device, at high definition with extra features! PPSSPP is the best, original and only PSP emulator for Android. It runs a lot of games, but depending on the power of your device all may not run at full speed. No games are included with this download.
Dump your own real PSP games and turn them into .ISO or .CSO files, or simply play free homebrew games, which are available online. Put those in /PSP/GAME on your SD card / USB storage.”
