Last night Sony rolled out a new update for their existing PlayStation 3 games console, but unfortunately for numerous PlayStation 3 owners the new update 4.45 seems to be bricking a number of them, so it might be worth not downloading the PlayStation 3 update 4.45 at the moment.
PlayStation forum member JadeTreeInWind wrote on a thread for the PlayStation 3 update which is now 75 pages long, on the PlayStation forum:
“When I started up the PS3 Slim today, it reported that it required [an] update to 4.45 (the version that allows you to disable trophy notification during game play),”
“After the download and installation, the system rebooted. But after it displayed the PS3 logo, it went to the second screen (the flowing ribbon). It’s supposed to display XMB next. But it never goes there.”-“I can not even shut down the system by pressing the power button. It bleeps, but the system didn’t shut down,”-“So I tried unplugging the power cord, and plugging in again. Still [the] same problem.”
Sony has removed the PlayStation 3 update 4.45 from its official firmware description web page, but numerous PS3 owners had already automatically download it.
Sony is apparently aware of the problem but has yet to issue any explanation or corrective measures for the issue, but as soon as anything is released we will keep you updated as always.
