Pioneer Electronics has announced a new DJ controller called the DDJ-SR. The DJ controller is a two-channel unit designed specifically to be used with Serato DJ software. The DDJ-SR is smaller and more compact, yet has some of the same functionality and controls of the larger DDJ-SX announced last year.
The new DDJ-SR features larger performance pads located below the jog wheels providing a cue, roll, slicer, and sampler functions. The performance pads are also backlit and holding them down triggers samples that match the beats per minute of music. The device also has a pair of large jog wheels.
Those large jog wheels allow the DJ precise scratching and mixing capability. The two-channel mixer can be used with up to four decks using the select buttons on the side of the controller. The device also has a crawlspace a reverse switch. The Serato DJ software is also included with the device at no additional cost. The DDJ-SR will be available in October for $699.
