MasterCard has announced that they have teamed up with SoftBank and their Pepper Robot to launch a new app for the robot for restaurants.
Pepper Robot will act like a digital waiter in Pizza Hut restaurants in Asia, he will take your order and also let you pay for your food with your smartphone, have a look at the video below.
How Pepper Robot Enhances the Dining Experience
The integration of Pepper Robot into Pizza Hut restaurants is set to revolutionize the dining experience. When greeted by Pepper, diners simply pair their MasterPass account by either tapping the Pepper icon within the wallet on their phone, or by scanning a QR code on the tablet that the robot holds. This seamless interaction allows for a more personalized and efficient service.
Pepper can then provide personalized recommendations and offers based on the diner’s preferences and past orders. This feature not only enhances customer satisfaction but also helps in upselling additional items. For instance, if a customer frequently orders a particular type of pizza, Pepper might suggest a complementary side dish or a new dessert option.
When greeted by Pepper, diners simply pair their MasterPass account by either tapping the Pepper icon within the wallet on their phone, or by scanning a QR code on the tablet that the robot holds. Pepper can then provide personalised recommendations and offers; additional information on products; and assistance in checking out and paying for items. Pepper can start, approve and complete a payment by connecting to MasterPass via a Wi-Fi connection, and the entire transaction happens within the customer’s digital wallet.
The Future of Dining with Pepper Robot
Pepper’s capabilities extend beyond just taking orders and processing payments. The robot can engage in small talk, answer questions about the menu, and even provide nutritional information about the dishes. This level of interaction can make the dining experience more enjoyable and informative for customers.
Moreover, Pepper’s integration with MasterPass ensures that the payment process is quick and secure. By connecting to MasterPass via a Wi-Fi connection, Pepper can start, approve, and complete a payment within the customer’s digital wallet. This eliminates the need for physical cash or cards, making the transaction process smoother and reducing the risk of errors.
Pepper will be serving customers in Pizza Hut restaurants in Asia by the end of the year, there are no details on when he will be doing the same in other countries. However, the success of this initiative in Asia could pave the way for Pepper’s introduction in other regions, potentially transforming the global dining landscape.
In addition to Pizza Hut, other restaurant chains and dining establishments may also adopt similar robotic solutions to enhance their customer service. The use of robots like Pepper could become a common sight in the hospitality industry, offering a blend of technology and human-like interaction that appeals to modern consumers.
