A new 3D printed affordable smartwatch is currently under development and takes the form of the KAUST Paper Watch witchy benefits prototyping stage is capable of measuring a number of body metrics such as, body temperature, blood pressure, and more.
The name of the smartwatch has come from the integrated paper skin technology which provides the sensors for the smartwatch. Watch the video below to learn more about the devices functionality.
The KAUST Paper Watch tech features thin, low-cost sensors made out of paper that its developers with unlimited options for future wearables. Muhammad Mustafa Hussain, an electrical engineer at KAUST explains :
I really would like to disrupt the technology world by making technologies available to everyone, especially those who cannot afford them. My objective is to reduce the price by $5 per year in the next five years until it reaches to a point where literally everyone has one.
