The Chinese OEM, Oppo has already announced its Oppo N1 in India for a whopping Rs. 39,999, considered a high price tag by many people.
It seems it’s not the only handset Oppo is planning to launch on Indian shores. According to a new report, Oppo might launch the mid-range Oppo R1 in India in March or April for a suggested price between 25k-30k (almost $400-480), which again is a very high price tag considering the market is flooded with Chinese smartphones.
The handset rocks a 5-inch display boasting a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and is powered by a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582 processor and 1GB of RAM.
The handset weighs 140 grams and measures 142.7 x 70.4 x 7.1 mm. Other features include 16GB internal storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, a 2,410 mAh, 8MP rear camera for photos and videos, 5MP front-facing camera and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean-based Color OS out of the box. For those who want extra storage will be disappointed to know that it doesn’t feature a microSD card slot.
Anyway, the handset costs almost $410 in China, so a price of $400-500 is just in between the similar price range. Although if the mentioned price tag is correct then I must say it’s a pretty expensive handset and users may be able to find a one with better specs for a lower price tag. What do you think?
