A virtual reality gaming Esports has taken a step in the right direction this week after Virtuix and HP announced that Omni Arena experiences will host a $100,000 VR esports prize pool in 2020. The new prize pool for next year’s double this year’s and provides gamers with a way to compete in virtual reality. Only locations that operate Omni 2.0 systems or an Omni Arena can participate in the Omniverse Esports tournaments.
Omni Arena attractions are available to the public in 12 different countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, UK and the USA. “To participate in a prize contest, simply play the contest game with your Omniverse player account at a participating location during the contest period. Your game scores will be added automatically to the contest leaderboard. You can play as many times as you want, but only your top leaderboard spot is eligible for prize money. You cannot win more than one prize.”
“The weekly Omni Arena contests require a 2-player team. To participate, simply play the “Game of the Week” (as advertised at the venue) with a team of 2 players. Each player requires an Omniverse player account. Your game scores will be added automatically to the contest leaderboard. You can play as many times as you want, but only your top leaderboard spot is eligible for prize money. You cannot win more than one prize. The weekly Omni Arena contests start at 8am Pacific Time on Monday of each week and end at 11:59pm Pacific Time on Sunday night. If you score in the top-three of the leaderboard by Sunday night, you win a cash prize :1st place team: $300, 2nd place team: $200, 3rd place team: $100″
