Adafruit has this week announced the availability and arrival of the NumWorks Graphing Calculator which offers the first moddable calculator with a Python interpreter built in. “This truly modern tool encourages curiosity in programming and engineering, and makes learning math and science skills fun and intuitive.” The NumWorks Graphing Calculator is now available from the online Adafruit store price that $124.95 and offers users six applications taking the form of calculations, functions, sequences, statistics, probability, and regression.
The calculator has been specifically designed to be modded using 3D printing, 3D models, firmware operating system source code, schematics and board layout details available to the public under a Creative Commons License. As well as offering a build of MicroPython installed thanks to the latest firmware update. Enabling users to run their own MicroPython variant on the calculator as well as compile/modify your own for the STM32 inside. “That’s right, that friendly snake can now do your math homework with you.
