There are plenty of smartbands and wearable devices including smartwatches that will notify you when a call comes in to your smartphone or phablet, but if you are looking for something a little less intrusive the Nudge wearable might be worth more investigation.
Nudge has been created to provide you with subtle notifications of important incoming calls notifications, yet allows you to not be disturbed whilst engaging with other people or activities. Watch the movie after the jump to understand a little more about how Nudge functions.
“Nudge is the nifty notification wristband, that lets you keep your phone in your pocket. Unlike other smart devices, it doesn’t try to bombard you with information, rather it does the opposite. It takes all the notifications that you get, and only tells you about the important ones.
You simply pre-select the important notifications in the nudge app, and then nudge gets to work. You won’t miss that important work email, or that phone call from a special someone, but you will still be able to immerse yourself in the moment, and spend some quality time in the real world.
We’re a group of four PhD students with backgrounds ranging from electrical engineering to computer science, so have all the expertise necessary to build the product. We’ve also got experience in commercialisation of start-ups, and several of us have been involved with start-ups at various stages. Finally, our contacts to factories in China mean that we have this project covered from start to finish!”
The Nudge wearable project is currently over on the Kickstarter crowd funding website looking to raise £35,000 in pledges to make the jump from concept to production.
