We recently heard that the various UK mobile carriers would not be offering Nokia’s 41-megapixel smartphone on contract, the Nokia 808 PureView. Now, it appears that the SIM-free version of the device will go on sale in the UK next week.
According to the guys over at Clove, they will have the Nokia 808 PureView in stock sometime next week. The handset will be available for £499.99, including taxes.
As a reminder, the Nokia 808 PureView comes with Symbian Belle and features a 41-megapixel camera and a 4-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels.
Camera Capabilities
The standout feature of the Nokia 808 PureView is undoubtedly its 41-megapixel camera. This camera is equipped with Carl Zeiss optics and offers an unprecedented level of detail and clarity for a smartphone. The PureView technology allows for high-resolution zoom and superior low-light performance, making it a favorite among photography enthusiasts. The camera also supports full HD 1080p video recording, complete with high-quality audio capture, thanks to Nokia’s Rich Recording technology.
Additional Specifications and Features
Other specifications on the 808 PureView include a 1.3GHz single-core processor, which, while not the most powerful by today’s standards, is sufficient for running the Symbian Belle operating system smoothly. The device comes with 16GB of built-in storage, which should be ample for most users. However, for those who need more space, the microSD card slot can accommodate cards up to 32GB, providing additional storage for photos, videos, and apps.
The 4-inch AMOLED display offers vibrant colors and deep blacks, making it ideal for media consumption and photo viewing. The resolution of 640 x 960 pixels ensures that images and text are sharp and clear. Additionally, the device includes a 1,400mAh battery, which should provide a decent amount of usage time, although heavy camera use may require more frequent charging.
The Nokia 808 PureView also comes with a range of connectivity options, including 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC. These features ensure that users can stay connected and share their high-quality photos and videos with ease. The device also includes GPS for navigation and location-based services.
In terms of design, the Nokia 808 PureView has a solid build quality, with a slightly curved back that makes it comfortable to hold. The camera module does protrude slightly, but this is a small trade-off for the exceptional camera performance it offers.
While the Symbian Belle operating system may not be as popular as Android or iOS, it still provides a user-friendly experience with a range of apps available through the Nokia Store. The operating system includes features such as customizable home screens, a notification bar, and a range of pre-installed apps for productivity and entertainment.
The Nokia 808 PureView is a unique smartphone that stands out primarily for its groundbreaking camera technology. While it may not have the latest hardware or the most popular operating system, it offers a compelling option for photography enthusiasts and those looking for a device with excellent imaging capabilities. With the SIM-free version available in the UK next week for £499.99, it presents a good opportunity for those interested in mobile photography to get their hands on this innovative device.
