Disappointment Among Users
The news has certainly disappointed many Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 users who were eagerly waiting for the Lollipop update. The Galaxy Tab Pro series was launched with high expectations, featuring robust hardware and a sleek design. The decision not to update the device to Android Lollipop has left users questioning Samsung’s commitment to supporting its devices. Many users feel that the device, which is still relatively new, deserves to be updated to keep up with the latest software advancements.
Possible Reasons for the Decision
As yet there are no details on why Samsung has decided not to update the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 to Android Lollipop. Considering the device only launched last year, we would have expected it to get the update. One possible reason could be the hardware limitations of the device. Although the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 comes with a powerful processor and ample RAM, it is possible that Samsung determined that the device might not deliver an optimal performance with the Lollipop update.
Another reason could be related to the cost and resources required to develop and test the update. Updating a device to a new version of Android involves significant effort in terms of development, testing, and deployment. Samsung might have decided to allocate its resources to newer devices that are more likely to benefit from the update.
Impact on Samsung’s Reputation
This decision could have a negative impact on Samsung’s reputation, especially among its loyal customer base. Users who invest in high-end devices like the Galaxy Tab Pro expect long-term support and timely updates. Failing to provide updates can lead to dissatisfaction and may drive customers to consider other brands that offer better support for their devices.
Alternatives for Users
For users who are determined to get the latest Android features on their Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, there are a few alternatives. One option is to explore custom ROMs developed by the Android community. Custom ROMs like LineageOS often provide updates for devices that are no longer officially supported by the manufacturer. However, installing a custom ROM requires technical knowledge and comes with risks, such as voiding the warranty and potential instability.
Another option is to consider upgrading to a newer tablet that comes with the latest version of Android. Samsung and other manufacturers regularly release new tablets with updated hardware and software. While this involves an additional cost, it ensures that users have access to the latest features and security updates.
In conclusion, while the decision not to update the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 to Android Lollipop is disappointing, users still have options to explore. Whether it’s through custom ROMs or upgrading to a newer device, there are ways to stay current with the latest Android advancements. It remains to be seen how Samsung will address the concerns of its users and whether it will reconsider its decision in the future.
