The Nintendo Switch has been a hit for Nintendo and considerably more popular than the console it replaces, the Wii U. Sales of the Switch have be strong since launch and now the console has outsold the Wii U.
It took Nintendo a total of 10 months to outsell the Wii U with the Switch, the company has sold a total of 14.86 million Switch console at the end of December 2017.
Nintendo sold a total of 13.56 million Wii U consoles, this was from when the console launch in 2012 until Nintendo stopped selling the device last year. The company has also seen success with its range of software for the Switch.
Sales of Super Mario Odyssey are at 9.07 million, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and 7.33 million, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the wild at 6.7 million and Splatoon 2 at 4.91 million. Nintendo also recently announced its new range of Labo accerssories for the console which are expected to help drive more sales.
