If you would like to add a little extra propulsion power to your bike and transform a standard bicycle into an e-bike, you might be interested to know that this month Velogical has unveiled their latest Velogical Velospeeder friction drive which is now even smaller and lighter than the previous prototypes.
The Velogical compact e-drive solution weighs under 4lb and can be easily fitted to any bicycle allowing the rider to quickly switch between extra propulsion on those hard climbs or when their legs are becoming tired.
Velogical specialises in creating dynamos for powering bike lights and has taken this technology into creating a new Velospeeder that is capable of providing up to 600 watts of power and 29.5 lb.ft (40 Nm) of torque, whilst only adding an extra 3.5lbs to the weight of your bike. Check out the quick video below to see the new Velogical Velospeeder device in action.
The Velogical Velospeeder is equipped with a 92-Wh lithium-polymer battery that is capable of providing up to 12 miles or 20 km of pedal power and the battery is small enough for cyclists to carry extra spares if required to help them through those longer journeys.
Unfortunately the Velogical Velospeeder is currently still in its prototype development stages and no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet by Velogical, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always.
