Nvidia has rolled out a new set of GeForce drivers which will provide The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim players who are running Nvidia graphic cards a nice boost to performance. The new GeForce 295.73 drivers now available to download offer up to two times the performance in Mass Effect 3 with SLI compared to 285.62.
Enhanced Gaming Experience
As well as GeForce-exclusive quality enhancements with ambient occlusion support for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Diablo III, and of course The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim game. Ambient occlusion is a shading and rendering technique used to calculate how exposed each point in a scene is to ambient lighting. This results in more realistic shadows and depth, significantly improving the visual experience in these games.
Other features that have been rolled out with the game include 3D Vision and SLI profiles for over 50 titles. SLI (Scalable Link Interface) allows multiple GPUs to work together to produce a single output, which can significantly boost performance and image quality. This is particularly beneficial for gamers who demand the highest frame rates and the most detailed graphics.
New PhysiX Software
Together with New PhysiX software which will enhance the graphics in PhyX titles such as Alice: Madness Returns and the latest Batman: Arkham City game. PhysX is a proprietary real-time physics engine middleware SDK developed by Nvidia. It is designed to enable real-time physics in video games, providing more dynamic and realistic interactions. For example, in Batman: Arkham City, PhysX allows for more realistic cloth movement, destructible environments, and particle effects, making the game world feel more immersive and alive.

Additional Benefits and Compatibility
The GeForce 295.73 drivers also bring several other improvements and bug fixes. For instance, they include updated PhysX System Software to version 9.12.0209 and HD Audio driver to version 1.3.12.0. These updates ensure that your system remains compatible with the latest games and applications, providing a smoother and more stable gaming experience.
Moreover, the drivers offer performance enhancements for a variety of other games, including Battlefield 3, Crysis 2, and Civilization V. This makes the update beneficial not just for Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 players, but for a wide range of gamers.
Real-World Impact
To illustrate the real-world impact of these drivers, consider a gamer playing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on a system with an Nvidia GTX 560 Ti graphics card. Before the update, they might experience frame rates around 30-40 FPS on high settings. After installing the GeForce 295.73 drivers, they could see frame rates increase to 50-60 FPS, providing a much smoother and more enjoyable gaming experience.
Similarly, a player using SLI with two GTX 580 cards in Mass Effect 3 could see their performance double, allowing them to play at higher resolutions and with more detailed graphics settings without sacrificing frame rates.
