TomTom and Nike have today unveiled a new Nike+ Sportwatch which they have launched in conjunction with a new Nike+ website. The new range of Nike+ Sportwatch includes new colour combinations and a starter pack available for $149 for users new to running and NikeFuel.
The Nike+ Sportwatch allows users to access Nike’s intelligent measure of athletic ability, which has been named NikeFuel. Watch the video below for more on NikeFuel which was launched last year. Nike, and Corinne Vigreux, Managing Director, from TomTom explains:
“Our extended range of products will be very useful to those adding running into their exercise regime. And the new NikeFuel measurement brings added motivation, allowing people to share and compare their performance with friends in other sports.”
Features of the Nike+ Sportwatch
The Nike+ Sportwatch is designed to be more than just a timepiece. It integrates GPS technology powered by TomTom, which provides accurate tracking of your runs, including distance, pace, and route mapping. This feature is particularly useful for runners who want to keep a detailed log of their progress and performance over time. Additionally, the watch includes a built-in heart rate monitor, which helps users keep track of their cardiovascular health during workouts.
Another standout feature is the watch’s ability to sync with the new Nike+ website. This online platform allows users to upload their run data, set goals, and participate in challenges with other runners around the world. The social aspect of the Nike+ community can be a significant motivator, as users can share their achievements and encourage each other to reach new milestones.
Benefits of NikeFuel
NikeFuel is a unique metric developed by Nike to quantify physical activity across different sports and exercises. Unlike traditional metrics like calories burned or steps taken, NikeFuel provides a universal measure that can be used to compare performance across various activities. This makes it easier for users to set and achieve fitness goals, regardless of their preferred type of exercise.
For example, a runner can compare their NikeFuel score with a friend who prefers cycling or swimming. This cross-sport compatibility encourages a broader range of physical activities and fosters a sense of community among users. The Nike+ Sportwatch tracks NikeFuel in real-time, giving users immediate feedback on their performance and helping them stay motivated throughout their workouts.
“Our extended range of products will be very useful to those adding running into their exercise regime. And the new NikeFuel measurement brings added motivation, allowing people to share and compare their performance with friends in other sports,” said Corinne Vigreux, Managing Director from TomTom.
In addition to the features mentioned above, the Nike+ Sportwatch also offers customizable watch faces, interval training programs, and automatic run reminders. These features make it a versatile tool for both novice runners and seasoned athletes. The watch is also water-resistant, making it suitable for use in various weather conditions.
The new Nike+ website complements the Sportwatch by offering a comprehensive suite of tools and resources for runners. Users can access training plans, nutritional advice, and tips from professional athletes. The website also features a community forum where users can share their experiences, ask questions, and get support from fellow runners.
Overall, the new Nike+ Sportwatch and website represent a significant advancement in fitness technology. By combining cutting-edge hardware with a robust online platform, Nike and TomTom have created a product that not only tracks performance but also motivates users to achieve their fitness goals. Whether you’re new to running or an experienced athlete, the Nike+ Sportwatch offers a range of features designed to enhance your training experience.
