Apple has scheduled an event on October 16th at Apple’s campus in Cupertino where the company is expected to unveil its upcoming tablet lineup.
According to a new report from MacRumors, citing a source that has provided the publication correct information in the past, Apple’s new tablets will be available from October 24th, this is the date that we speculated on last week. The company has reportedly begun shipping mass quantities of new product into the U.S.
The source couldn’t find out which specific product is being shipped at the moment, but it’s highly likely to be the upcoming iPads. It’s not clear about the models — iPad Air 2 or the iPad Mini 2 with Retina — but a recent rumor hinted that Apple’s next-generation iPad Mini with Retina will be unveiled at the event.
Rumors suggest the iPad Air 2 is expected to come with an A8X processor, 2GB of RAM, Touch ID sensor, and iOS 8 as its operating system out of the box. We’ve seen several leaked images, and rumors about the alleged tablet, hinting at what we could expect from the upcoming device. Additionally, Apple Pay may make it’s way to the new tablet when it launches on October 16th.
Same cannot be said for the iPad Mini 2 with Retina, which is expected to come with minor hardware upgrades, introducing the fingerprint sensor, an A8 processor and iOS 8 pre-installed.
Stay tuned, we’ll update you as soon as we get any other information. Until then, a proverbial amount of salt is required despite the source’s decent track record.
