In Japan this week NEC has unveiled a new addition to their range in the form of the LaVie X 15.6 Ultrabook, which NEC is claiming is currently the worlds thinnest in production.
The NEC LaVie X 15.6 Ultrabook is powered by a Core i7-3517U 1.9 GHz processor supported by 4GB of RAM and comes running Microsoft’s latest Windows 8 operating system.
The NEC LaVie X 15.6 Ultrabook is also equipped with a 256GB solid state disk (SSD) and is fitted with a 15.6-inch, 1920 x 1080 IPS display, all encased in a chassis that measures just 12.8mm in thickness.
NEC is expected to start shipping the LaVie X on December 27th for around 175,000 Yen or $2,100, but unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet by NEC.
