The Microsoft Surface Go tablet was made official recently and now Amazon has started to take pre-orders on the device.
The tablet is up for pre-order for $399 for the 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage model, while the 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage model will set you back $549.
Specifications and Features
As a reminder, the Surface Go comes with a 10-inch display that features a 3:2 aspect ratio and an 1800 x 1200 pixel resolution. This aspect ratio is particularly beneficial for productivity tasks, as it provides more vertical space compared to the more common 16:9 displays. The tablet is powered by the 7th Generation Intel Pentium Gold processor, which is designed to offer a balance between performance and battery life, making it suitable for everyday tasks such as web browsing, document editing, and media consumption.
The Surface Go also includes a front-facing camera capable of 5MP resolution, which supports Windows Hello facial recognition for secure and convenient login. The rear camera is 8MP, suitable for capturing photos and videos on the go. Additionally, the device features a USB-C port, a headphone jack, and a microSD card reader for expandable storage.
Accessories and Ecosystem
One of the key selling points of the Surface Go is its compatibility with a range of accessories that enhance its functionality. The Surface Go Signature Type Cover, sold separately, transforms the tablet into a laptop-like device with a full keyboard and trackpad. This accessory is available in multiple colors and is designed to provide a comfortable typing experience.
Another notable accessory is the Surface Pen, which offers 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and tilt support, making it an excellent tool for artists and note-takers. The Surface Pen can be magnetically attached to the side of the Surface Go for easy storage and access.
The Surface Go runs Windows 10 in S Mode by default, which is a streamlined version of Windows 10 that only allows apps from the Microsoft Store. This mode is designed to provide a more secure and performance-optimized experience. However, users have the option to switch to the full version of Windows 10 for free, which allows the installation of apps from outside the Microsoft Store.
