The Microsoft Surface Go was announced recently, the device starts at $399 in the US and now Microsoft has revealed the UK pricing for the tablet. The device will cost £379 in the UK.
The Surface Go is Microsoft’s latest Windows tablet, and it comes equipped with a 7th Generation Intel Pentium Gold processor. This processor is designed to provide a balance of performance and efficiency, making it suitable for everyday tasks such as browsing the web, streaming videos, and using productivity applications.
That’s the idea behind the design of Surface Go – our smallest, lightest, and most affordable Surface yet. When we designed this device, we had to ask ourselves what people want and need from a 10” Surface. The answers seem obvious – lightweight, productive, and accessible to more people. I’m pumped to introduce you to Surface Go, because it’s all those things, and so much more.
Specifications and Features
The tablet also comes with a choice of 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. This flexibility allows users to choose a model that best fits their needs and budget. The 4GB RAM model is ideal for basic tasks and light multitasking, while the 8GB RAM model is better suited for more demanding applications and multitasking scenarios.
The Surface Go features a 10-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and an 1800 x 1200 pixel resolution. This aspect ratio is particularly beneficial for productivity tasks, as it provides more vertical screen real estate compared to traditional 16:9 displays. The high resolution ensures that text and images are sharp and clear, making it a pleasure to use for reading, writing, and viewing multimedia content.
In addition to its impressive display, the Surface Go includes a range of connectivity options. It features a USB-C port, a headphone jack, a Surface Connect port, and a microSD card reader. The USB-C port allows for fast data transfer and charging, while the microSD card reader provides expandable storage options, which can be particularly useful for users who need additional space for their files and media.
Design and Usability
The Surface Go is designed to be highly portable and versatile. Weighing just 1.15 pounds (522 grams) and measuring 9.65 x 6.9 x 0.33 inches (245 x 175 x 8.3 mm), it is easy to carry around and use on the go. Its compact size makes it an excellent choice for students, professionals, and anyone who needs a lightweight device for travel.
One of the standout features of the Surface Go is its compatibility with the Surface Pen and Type Cover (sold separately). The Surface Pen allows for precise input and is perfect for taking notes, drawing, and annotating documents. The Type Cover, on the other hand, transforms the tablet into a laptop-like device, providing a comfortable typing experience and a built-in trackpad for navigation.
The Surface Go runs on Windows 10 in S Mode, which is a streamlined version of Windows 10 designed for security and performance. S Mode restricts app installations to those available from the Microsoft Store, ensuring that only verified and safe applications are used. However, users have the option to switch to the full version of Windows 10 if they need to install applications from outside the Microsoft Store.
