Microsoft made a big stink about the 3D printer support it gave Windows 8.1, and now it’s gone even further and released a 3D printing app that’s supposed to make building a lot easier. The app is called 3D Builder and comes with a variety of pre-designed items 3D printer owners can start printing immediately. It also allows users to easily adjust, combine, and design new items easily without needing an engineering degree.
I understand 3D printing is going to be a thing, but this is a little too soon. How many people even have a 3D printer right now? My guess is not many. Sure it pays to be on top of things, but was an app really necessary? Don’t apps that do the same thing already exist? Why did Microsoft feel the need to make their own?
Also, the app is also kind of redundant. Most 3D printers, if not all, come with pre-designed items and the software to do everything the app does.
Do you have a 3D printer? If you do, try the app out and let us know how it is. I’d love to have some of my questions answered. If you don’t have a 3D printer, I wouldn’t take this as a sign to go get one just yet.
