Microsoft has decided to drop its Windows Live Spaces blogging technology and use the popular Wordpress blogging software as the default option for Windows Live.
Wordpress Automattic and Microsoft announced the partnership at the TechCrunch Disrupt event.
User of the Windows Live Spaces can start migrating their blogs to Wordpress today and Wordpress will be come the default blogging software when Microsoft launches its Windows Live Writer blogging tool later this fall.
“There are 30 million people who are actively using Windows Live Spaces and have been eagerly awaiting the next set of new blogging features,”
“For these customers, Windows Live and WordPress.com have worked together to build a simple way to move your blog posts, comments, and integrated photos right over to WordPress.com and start taking advantage of all their new features.”
Said Microsoft’s Dharmesh Mehta in a blog post.
