A new mechanical keyboard kit has been made available by the Vault Hardware team based in Los Angeles California, enabling you to create your very own keyboard to your exact requirements. The mechanical keyboard kit offers MX hot-swap switch pads, and has been developed with QMK, equipped with a USB-C interface and is manufactured in the US. Pledges are available from $45 for the early bird Vault 1 kit and worldwide deliveries are expected to take place during January 2020.
“The members of Vault Hardware have spent the last decade manufacturing products for the video game industry and we have learned a thing or two. One of the main things we learned is the inconsistencies of producing products overseas. We wanted to produce something that we could control in terms of quality and pricing. The only way we saw that product coming to life is producing it in the USA. A lot of companies like to tell you that producing anything in the USA is expensive and not profitable, they aren’t lying – but they aren’t telling the whole truth. Producing some basic electronics in the USA is roughly 25-35% more expensive if the end goal is making more than 150% profit.”
