EA has offered up sales statistics for the first week of availability for Madden NFL 13. According to the game publisher, sell through for the latest title in the Madden franchise was up 8% year-over-year on HD platforms. EA says that it sold more than 1.65 million copies of the game in its first week of availability.
There were huge number of players playing online with 24 million online games recorded. EA says on Labor Day there were an average of 3000 Madden games played every minute. Over the first week, 1.4 million fans connected online.
The new Madden Ultimate Team mode has also proven to be popular with more than 702,000 unique visitors for that mode with over 2.6 million packs opened and 2.2 million challenges performed. EA also says that the Madden NFL Facebook page received more than 1.3 million unique visitors and there were over 450,000 Madden mentions on Twitter during its first week.
“We’re thrilled to see the great momentum continuing on Madden NFL 13,” said Andrew Wilson, Executive Vice President of EA SPORTS. “The overwhelming feedback is that this is the best Madden NFL game in a generation. Fans are competing in record numbers, and we expect that type of engagement to only grow with the start of the NFL regular season last night, as fans connect with their favorite teams and players through our game.”
