Another Raspberry Pi alternative has been launched this week in the form of the MaaXBoard, a $60 single board computer capable of running the Yocto Linux or Android 9.0 operating systems. Processing power is provided by either a NXP i.MX8M Dual, QuadLite, or Quad (2x or 4x Cortex-A53 @ up to 1.4GHz) supported by Vivante GC7000Lite GPU with VPU on all but QuadLite, Cortex-M4F @ 266MHz.
“MaaXBoard is designed on NXP i.MX 8M family processor, the i.MX 8M family of applications processors based on Arm® Cortex®-A53 and Cortex-M4 cores provide industry-leading audio, voice, and video processing for applications that scale from consumer home audio to industrial building automation and mobile computers.”
The MaaXBoard mini PC is now available priced at $60 with 2 GB of RAM and is rapidly one third of the price of the similar PICO-PI-IMX8M mini PC. The MaaXBoard features Gigabit Ethernet interface, USB, HDMI, MIPI_DSI, Camera(MIPI_CSI) signal, WIFI, BLE4.0, Micro SD card slot, UART and GPIO, making it ideal for AI, IoT and intensive multimedia applications.
