Some of our readers will remember the LG Lucid that we showed you recently. At the time, we had a range of specifications on the device, and these have now been confirmed by the guys from Droid Life.
According to the information obtained, the LG Lucid will feature a 4-inch WVGA NOVA display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. It will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will feature a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor.
Other specifications include 8GB of built-in storage, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, WiFi Direct, GPS, and 4G LTE, plus a 1700mAh battery. We still don’t have any details on a launch date, although the device is expected to retail for under $200.
Display and Performance
The 4-inch WVGA NOVA display on the LG Lucid is designed to offer vibrant colors and excellent brightness, making it easier to view in various lighting conditions. The resolution of 800 x 480 pixels ensures that the display is sharp enough for everyday tasks such as browsing the web, watching videos, and playing games. The NOVA display technology is known for its energy efficiency, which could help in extending the battery life of the device.
The dual-core 1.2 GHz processor is expected to provide a smooth and responsive user experience. This should be sufficient for multitasking and running most apps available on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform. While Gingerbread is not the latest version of Android, it still supports a wide range of applications and features that users will find useful.
Connectivity and Additional Features
In terms of connectivity, the LG Lucid is well-equipped with Bluetooth 3.0, which allows for faster data transfer rates compared to previous versions. This is particularly useful for transferring files between devices or using wireless accessories such as headphones and speakers. The inclusion of WiFi and WiFi Direct means that users can connect to wireless networks and share files directly with other WiFi Direct-enabled devices without needing a wireless access point.
The GPS functionality ensures that users can take advantage of location-based services and navigation apps, making the LG Lucid a handy device for travelers and those who rely on maps and directions. The 4G LTE capability is a significant feature, as it allows for faster internet speeds and improved network performance, which is essential for streaming media, downloading files, and browsing the web.
The 1700mAh battery should provide a decent amount of usage time, although actual battery life will depend on various factors such as screen brightness, app usage, and network conditions. Given the energy-efficient NOVA display and the relatively modest hardware specifications, users can expect reasonable battery performance.
Storage and Pricing
With 8GB of built-in storage, the LG Lucid offers a fair amount of space for apps, photos, music, and other files. While this may not be sufficient for users with extensive media libraries, it should be adequate for those who primarily use cloud storage services or do not require a large amount of local storage. Additionally, it is worth checking if the device supports expandable storage via a microSD card, which could provide a convenient way to increase storage capacity.
The expected retail price of under $200 makes the LG Lucid an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers. This price point positions the device as a competitive choice in the mid-range smartphone market, offering a good balance of features and performance without breaking the bank.
