Yesterday, we heard about Intel’s new specifications for ultra-thin notebooks, which Intel calls the Ultrabook. The first of these devices was announced by Asus, with the launch of the Asus UX21 notebook.
Now, another Ultrabook from a different manufacturer has appeared at this year’s Computex, the Lenovo IdeaPad Ultrabook U300s. This is another ultra-thin notebook that uses Intel’s Sandy Bridge platform.

The Sandy Bridge platform is known for its improved performance and energy efficiency, which is crucial for ultra-thin notebooks that aim to provide both power and portability. The Lenovo IdeaPad U300s is expected to retail for around $1,000.
The U300s is designed to be a high-performance machine in a sleek, lightweight form factor. It is expected to feature a solid-state drive (SSD) for faster boot times and data access, which is a common feature in Ultrabooks to enhance performance. Additionally, it will likely include USB 3.0 ports for faster data transfer, HDMI output for connecting to external displays, and a high-resolution display for crisp and clear visuals.
Design and Build Quality
The Lenovo IdeaPad U300s is expected to follow the trend of ultra-thin and lightweight designs that are characteristic of Ultrabooks. With a thickness of less than an inch and a weight of around 3 pounds, it will be highly portable, making it an excellent choice for professionals and students who need a powerful yet portable device. The build quality is expected to be premium, with materials such as aluminum or magnesium alloy to provide durability while keeping the weight down.
The keyboard and trackpad are also expected to be of high quality, with a comfortable typing experience and precise cursor control. Lenovo is known for its excellent keyboards, and the U300s is likely to continue this tradition. The battery life is another critical aspect, and with the energy-efficient Sandy Bridge processors, the U300s is expected to offer impressive battery life, making it suitable for all-day use.
As soon as we get more information, we will let you guys know. The competition in the Ultrabook market is heating up, and it will be interesting to see how the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s stacks up against other offerings from manufacturers like Asus, Dell, and HP.
