Asus has announced another new laptop at this year’s Computex, the Asus UX21, which will come with a new Intel Core i7 processor and features an ultra-thin design, and an aluminum casing.
Asus hasn’t released the exact specifications as yet, but the guys over at Engadget managed to get a hands-on video, which gives us a good look at some of its features and the design.
Design and Build Quality
The Asus UX21 certainly looks very thin from the video, especially when compared to the MacBook Air. The ultra-thin design is not just for aesthetics; it also makes the laptop highly portable, perfect for professionals and students who are always on the go. The aluminum casing adds a premium feel to the device while also providing durability. This combination of sleek design and robust build quality makes the UX21 a strong contender in the ultrabook market.
The laptop’s design also includes a chiclet keyboard and a large touchpad, which are essential for comfortable typing and navigation. The keyboard is backlit, making it easier to type in low-light conditions. The touchpad supports multi-touch gestures, which can enhance productivity by allowing users to perform various tasks quickly.
Performance and Features
Under the hood, the Asus UX21 is powered by the latest Intel Core i7 processor, which promises high performance and efficiency. This makes it suitable for a range of tasks, from everyday computing to more demanding applications like video editing and gaming. The laptop is expected to come with SSD storage, which will not only make it faster but also more reliable compared to traditional hard drives.
Connectivity options are also expected to be robust, with USB 3.0 ports for faster data transfer, an HDMI port for connecting to external displays, and possibly a Thunderbolt port for even faster connectivity and data transfer speeds. The inclusion of these ports ensures that the UX21 can easily connect to a variety of peripherals, making it a versatile machine for both work and play.
The display is another highlight, with rumors suggesting a high-resolution screen that offers vibrant colors and sharp details. This would make it ideal for media consumption, whether you’re watching movies, editing photos, or just browsing the web.
Battery life is always a concern with ultra-thin laptops, but Asus is known for optimizing power consumption. While exact battery life figures are not yet available, it is expected that the UX21 will offer a decent amount of usage time on a single charge, making it reliable for day-long use.
It is expected to go on sale in September. As soon as we get some more specifications and details on pricing, we will let you guys know.
