Microsoft’s Kinect device is a great device for modifications, as we have documented here on Geeky Gadgets publishing just a few articles from the huge number of hacks and mods that have been carried out on Microsoft’s Kinect since its launch a few weeks ago.
If you didn’t know already Microsoft restricted the camera resolution to 320 x 240 to allow multiple USB devices to work at one time. However the camera is apparently capable of 640 x 480.
Joystiq has reported that Microsoft is currently working on a new update that will allow the camera to use both its full resolution and by able to accommodate multiple USB devices.
Its still unclear though as to whether the new update will help or hinder the accuracy of the Kinect device as it will now increase the from 15MB/s of data 35MB/s which might slow down processing as it will now have 4 times as much data to process in game.
