iPad Pro users may be interested in a new desktop docking station aptly named the MagicDock, which is launched via Kickstarter this month to raise the required funds needed to make the jump from concept into production. Earlybird pledges are available from $99 or roughly £80 and worldwide shipping is expected to take place during October 2019.
“Whether you need a large 4K monitor for video output or checking out your latest Photoshop edits, a 3.5mm audio jack for plugging in headphones and doing some audio work, plugging in an external USB device like a hard drive or MIDI station, and of course charging via USB-C, MagicDock has you covered with it’s rear facing I/O ports.”
The designer and creator of the MagicDock Steve Warren, explains a little more about the inspiration behind the design and its features. “So I — like many — purchased a 2018 iPad Pro, and shortly after purchasing it realized I really wanted a desktop docking station. So I made a list of what I wanted this docking product to do and started my online search. Sadly, after weeks of endless online perusal I came to the conclusion that there was no product out there that met my criteria. In fact, not a single product came close. I had a list of about 10 things, and I couldn’t find a product that checked off more than two of my boxes. So I created MagicDock.”
