Whenever I am surfing on my iPad I always enjoy watching a movie or TV at the same time. This is fine when I’m in my lounge but what if I’m out and about?
I always carry my iPhone so it was ideal to use this to watch movies but iPhone stands are not always convenient to use and sometimes may not be viewable when I’m using my iPad. Something else was need to solve this problem.
Hence the iPad iPhone Connector Clip, a DIY connector to hold your iPhone in place on top of your iPad while you surf allowing you to view media on your iPhone and surf on your iPad at the same time.
It’s really easy to make and you can customise it in any number of ways to make it personal.
All you need is a 24cm length of plastic ‘U’ shaped extrusion that you can pickup from any hardware store. It comes in many forms so you might be able to get a piece that is already in a ‘H’ shape. Which would be perfect. Before you buy the plastic extrusion make sure your iPhone and case (if you use one) fits snugly into the grove.
Unfortunately the only strips my hardware store stocked were ‘U’ shaped so I needed to glue two pieces together, using superglue.
First cut the 24cm strip into two equal parts using sharp scissors or a hack saw. Then glue them together along the bottom flat sides to make a ‘H’ shape moulding (see below)
Once to two pieces are glued together the connector is pretty much ready and can be used like this if your in a a rush and not worried but its look.
If you have a little more time you can customise the shape using either glass paper or a Dremel or similar. Once your sculptured your desired shape. (Remembering not to remove to much plastic) you can spray or decorate the plastic in any way you like.
Since I’ve made mind I cant live without it, even with the little added extra weight. You could even push it to the extremes and link iPads to iPads and iPhone’s on top of iPhone’s, as long as you can handle the extra weight.
Enjoy.
