We still don’t know exactly when Apple will announce the iPad 2, we previously heard it would be some time this month, and were then told that we may have to wait until March for the iPad 2 to be unveiled.
Now the is reporting that the iPad 2 will be thinner and lighter than the existing model, and that it will feature a FaceTime compatible camera, according to their sources which are ‘people familiar with the matter’.
The new iPad will be thinner and lighter than the first model, these people said. It will have at least one camera on the front of the device for features like video-conferencing, but the resolution of the display will be similar to the first iPad, these people said. It will also have more memory and a more powerful graphics processor
All of the things mentioned in the above report from the WSJ are things we have heard previously, not really any surprises, and we have previously heard that the iPad 2 will feature the same resolution display as the original iPad.
Personally I am hoping that Apple will release the iPad 2 with a higher resolution display, hopefully one with a HD resolution which would allow them to call it the iPad HD, this would be a good name for it if they intend to sell the original iPad at the same time.
