Previously, HTC announced that Android 4.4 KitKat will hit the HTC One by January, and it seems HTC is pretty much on schedule.
Recently, the Taiwanese OEM tweeted the final version of Android 4.4 KitKat has entered carrier testing and submitted to all major US carriers. Now, they are waiting for the certifications from all four major carriers and it shouldn’t take too much time for the update to hit the HTC One owners.
Now that HTC has finalized it’s version of the software, do take note that it might take some time for the carriers to test the update and add their own customizations before pushing it to the customers, which can take weeks. But, at least this should calm HTC One owners as they know now that it shouldn’t take a lot of time for the carriers to add their own apps and other customizations.
Also, when the update goes live from the carrier, it might take a few more weeks for the roll out to complete and reach all HTC One owners. So, don’t panic if you didn’t get the update on the first day. You can, however, check manually for the update and see if it starts downloading.
We’ll update you as soon as it starts rolling out for all major US carriers.
