Makers and developers that could use a desktop CNC milling machine might be worth giving the new Honing H312 system are little more investigation. Created by High Plains CNC the new system offers a three axis desktop CNC milling solution that is now available from $2,899.
The Honing H312 is equipped with fully machined 1/2 inch aluminium body, 20 mm chrome linear rails together with 16mm industrial triple captured ball screws, and high powered Nema 23 stepper motors driving each axis.
Watch the video below to learn more about the systems construction, features and functionality and see examples of what it’s capable of milling in a variety of different materials.
With the HONING H312 we’ve taken the guesswork out of operating a CNC machine. Everything you’ll need to get started is included – software (for Windows, Mac, and Linux), and cables. You’ll be cutting parts out on day one.
This is not a kit, this is a machine HONING H312 is a fully assembled turn-key ready machine that comes pre-tested directly from the factory. Upon arrival, you only need to un-box the machine, and plug it in. There is nothing to assemble. After installing the open source software, you’ll be ready to make your own parts.
We built the HONING H312 to be a robust, precise, and fast desktop milling solution to tackle your toughest projects in harder materials (see below for material breakdown). Featuring a ER16 collet system for larger more comprehensive tooling sets.
CNC mills are incredibly versatile, and there is almost no limit to what they can do. A good way to think about a CNC mill is that it is the reverse of a 3D printer, but instead of the addition of material to create a part, CNC mills subtract material to make a part. CNC machines are at the heart of the manufacturing industry, You can really make almost anything on a mill, from molds to space shuttle parts. Below you will find a few examples of what we have made with the H312, what will you make?
